Family Support Program (Urban Family Preservation Prince George)
Child Services, Family / Parenting, Indigenous Services, and Youth Services

The program provides a wide variety of hands-on training from a culturally relevant perspective in the areas of personal identity, child and parent attachment, parenting, effects of colonization, holistic wellness, goal setting, relationships, financial management, healthy lifestyles, relapse prevention, and more.
The program also assists families involved with Child Protection Services in navigating the Child Welfare System and in developing and implementing plans to address any concerns.
The following family support groups are offered on a rotating schedule; call to find out when the next session starts and to register if necessary.
Parenting Groups:
Parenting: Offers a variety of topics on parenting, teen parenting, resources, societal stresses, personal life, mental health, single parenting, relationships, and everyday stresses. Life Skills & Adult Support Groups:
Women's Group: A support group for women that cover a variety of topics, including self-care, mental health, stress management, culture, language, weekly check-ins and crafts. This group is ongoing, and ladies can join us at any time.

Anger and Stress Management: A 7-week group that coaches participants to navigate life’s daily stresses that can often lead to anger.

Adult Life Skills Group: A group open to everyone. Participants can learn a variety of skills and topics. Each week, the group will explore a different topic, from budgeting to healthy relationships, cooking, wellness and all things in between.

PEACE: Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment (formerly Children Who Witness Abuse) is a 10-week program that provides a safe setting for children and youth to work through their emotions related to the trauma they may have experienced.
When Love Hurts Support Group: A support group for women who have experienced abuse from their male partner and offers tools and information to make sense of what is happening to them.

Rainbows (Grief & Loss): A group that assists children to understand that they did not cause divorce or death, discover their own inner strengths, learn to accept and manage their life in the changed circumstances, experience an element of forgiveness of others and themselves, and progress from hurt through healing to hope.

PRISM (Grief & Loss): A 12-week peer support group program for single parents, step-parents, and parents whose children are in the Rainbows program.
Kaleidoscope (Grief & Loss): A 12-week peer support program for adults who may have recently experienced and are processing grief or are dealing with unresolved issues of grief and loss.
